Shelley Means (White Earth Ojibwe/Oglala Lakota) is a surviving twin, a mother and Indigenous-
community consultant, facilitator and volunteer who lives with her family in the traditional territories of the Skwababsh people, a band of the Puyallup Tribe, on Vashon Island.  Since 2003, Shelley has served as Co-Coordinator for NAWDIM (the Native American Women's Dialog on Infant Mortality), supporting Indigenous birth workers, Native non-profit organizations and public health agencies towards collective solutions for Indigenous survival. The work includes initiatives for cultural practices, sovereignty and honoring Indigenous knowledge and values. She also serves on the Seattle Indian Health Board
