Nina was born and raised in Washington, and currently lives with her Husband and 2 year old Daughter. From a young age, she exhibited a profound passion for helping others, a trait that would become a defining theme in her life. Prior to Hummingbird, Nina has spent the last 6 years in Healthcare Administration/Operations.
As a first-generation Fil-Am, Nina embraces her cultural roots and carries the values instilled by her family. The trajectory of her life took a transformative turn when she discovered she was pregnant with her first child! This is how she came across Hummingbird Indigenous Family Services during the most beautiful, yet most vulnerable journey she had yet to face. She was given the culturally compassionate care from Hummingbird that she needed to get through her pregnancy, and what was to come with postpartum.
Nina has always had a calling to help and advocate for others. After giving birth to her Daughter, she knew she needed to finally fulfil that calling with a higher purpose. She also realized just how important community is, and wanted to be a part of something great. Nina is so excited to be a part of Hummingbird, not only as a Relative that received care, but now as someone who can help with all the administrative needs to keep our organization and community flourishing.
Nina finds joy in various activities. She actively engages in her Daughter's daycare, the Native Family Learning Lodge, which fosters an environment of cultural appreciation, language revitalization and Indigenous education. She also loves to attend her Husband and Daughter's performances with their Family group, The Raven Clan Singers. She loves to travel, especially to her Mother's homeland, the Philippines, where she connects with her roots, Family and introduces her Daughter to the beauty of the archipelago and culture. Nina is also an adventurous food enthusiast, always eager to explore new culinary experiences. She also enjoys watching shows/anime with her Husband, or playing video games with her little brothers. Family and friends hold a special place in Nina's heart, and she cherishes moments spent with loved ones. Whether it's a cozy gathering or an exciting adventure, Nina values the bonds that strengthen over time.
